Strange issue

807557Dec 24 2006 — edited Jan 25 2007
I am not sure where this should go, so putting it here.
I have sun solaris 8 on sunfire 280 sparc.
When i enter /var/tmp and then ls , i see the following bunch of directories -
aaaf2aW aaap2ayAr aaa9Ta4Df aaaIBaajo
a lot of file.
Now when i go to do a rm -R * this is the error message -
rm: Unable to remove directory aaaxBaiee/SUNWcsu: File exists
rm: Unable to remove directory aaaxBaiee: File exists
pkgmap: I/O error
# reboot
bash: /usr/sbin/reboot: I/O error
when i type -
init 0 or init 6 or anything i get the same I/O error.
Will a hard boot solve this?
