Role revoked from user, but access still persists

"Oracle Database 19c Standard Edition 2 Release 19.0.0.0.0 - Production
Version 19.20.0.0.0"

After revoking a role and a privilege granted directly, the user was still able to access that object in a new session. Does it take some time before the privs are removed or should this not happen immediately?
