RAC Interconnect latency issue.

ChiwatelJan 20 2017 — edited Jan 23 2017

Hello All,

We have a 12.1.0.2 RAC database and when we read the last AWR report, we noticed that the interconnect latence was high.

Here are Interconnect Ping Latency Stats results from AWR :

Here the result from target 1 :

Target Instance : 1

500B Ping Count : 71

Avg Latency 500B msg : 0.46

Stddev 500B msg : 0.14

8K Ping Count : 71

Avg Latency 8K msg : 0.43

Stddev 8K msg : 0.14

I think everything is ok. As I understood, the server pings itself.

Here the result from target 2 :

Target Instance : 2

500B Ping Count : 71

Avg Latency 500B msg : 13.25

Stddev 500B msg : 45.56

8K Ping Count : 71

Avg Latency 8K msg : 13.26

Stddev 8K msg : 45.53

Here is the problem, the values are pretty high. According to Oracle documentation, the latency should be less that a milliseconds (such as target 1).

Do you think there is a problem ? Where should I look in order to solve it ?

Many thanks !

Cheebea.
