Periodic Average Costing (PAC) - Initial Cost of Subassemblies and Finished Goods

Daniel J NoonanNov 13 2024

Hello,

I'm trying to get a better understanding of how initial cost setups are performed in Periodic Average Costing (PAC). Can a Subassembly or Finished Goods item have it's initial cost calculated based off the Work Order Cost? Here is an example:

Item A is built using components X, Y, and Z , as well as a Resource Cost
Components X, Y, and Z have a cost of $5 each
Resource Cost of $5

So If I create a Work Order for Item A and complete that work order, is there any way to 'roll up' the component and resource costs to generate an initial cost for Item A of $20? Or, do I need to perform a Periodic Average Cost Adjustment to cost the manufactured Subassemblies/FG's in order to set an initial cost?

Thanks,
Daniel
