Oracle Database Actions: Roles required to use the monitoring features on a traditional non-CDB Oracle 19c database

user1300596Sep 11 2024

This is a question for the Oracle Database Actions development team.

We have successfully installed Oracle Database Actions Release 24.2.3 on an Amazon Oracle 19c RDS database instance. In general, Oracle Database Actions works as expected. Our RDS master user only has the DBA role and we do not have permissions to assign the PDB_DBA role. Unfortunately, the Monitoring Overview page (and the monitoring features) currently require a database user with the DBA and PDB_DBA roles. Therefore, we cannot use the monitoring features with our Amazon Oracle RDS.

If there is no hard technical reason that the PDB_DBA role must be assigned even in the case of a traditional non-CDB Oracle 19c database, it would be a nice enhancement to provide the monitoring features to a user who only has the DBA role (in case of a non-CDB Oracle 19c database).
