Oracle and VBScript - connection string

2610327Feb 11 2014 — edited Feb 12 2014

Hi all

I'm trying to run the following piece of code with VBscript:

set cn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
set rs = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")

ConnectionString ="Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle; Data Source=" & _
"(DESCRIPTION=(CID=GTU_APP)(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST="&host&")(PORT="&port&")))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID="&SID&")(SERVER=DEDICATED)));" & _
"User Id="&user&";Password="&password&";"

cn.Open connectionString

I got that connection string from connectionstrings.com - I'd like to use a TNS-less connection.

When I run that code, I get an error saying: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed, but I have the client installed.

I suspect that the client may have not been installed properly, or something else is missing. Any ideas?

In case it helps, this is a 64-bit Win 7 system.

Thanks!
