Hi all,
I’m looking for some guidance before we commit further to a move to Oracle Enterprise Manager 24ai.
We currently run OEM Ops Center 12c to manage our Solaris/SPARC estate. As Ops Center is EOL, we’ve started evaluating OEM 24ai as a potential replacement. We already have a 24ai server up and have deployed agents to most of our servers.
However, we’re unsure whether OEM 24ai can fully replace the functionality we currently rely on in Ops Center, particularly around SPARC/Solaris management.
Our main use cases in Ops Center today are:
- Oracle ASR for ILOM / hardware fault monitoring and auto SRs
- Server pools and automated migration for Solaris VM for SPARC (LDOMs)
- Solaris package/patch repository and OS lifecycle management
From what we’ve seen so far, OEM 24ai appears more focused on monitoring and database/middleware management, and we’re unclear whether it can cover the above areas natively.
So, our key questions are:
- Can OEM 24ai provide equivalent functionality for:
- SPARC/ILOM monitoring and ASR integration
- LDOM/server pool management and automated migrations
- Solaris patch and package repository management
- Or is the expected approach now to use a combination of:
- Oracle ASR Manager for hardware/service requests
- Oracle VM Server for SPARC (LDOM tools) for virtualisation/migration
- Native Solaris tooling for patching
- OEM 24ai purely for monitoring and orchestration
- For anyone who has migrated from Ops Center, how did you replace:
- Server pools / auto-migration
- Centralised Solaris patching
Cheers all.
