We are currently evaluating how organizations are using OCI Vault for key management, and I would like to hear from other universities, companies, or OCI users.
A few questions we are looking into:
- Is your organization currently using OCI Vault to manage encryption keys, secrets, or certificates?
- If yes, what are your main use cases? For example: database encryption, application secrets, API credentials, integration security, compliance, or centralized key rotation.
- What were the main reasons your organization chose OCI Vault?
- If your organization is not using OCI Vault, what tool or process are you using for key management instead? For example: HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, Thales, AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, on-prem HSM, database wallet, manual key management, or another solution.
- For those who evaluated OCI Vault but decided not to use it, what were the main reasons? Cost, complexity, existing tools, security policy, compliance requirements, lack of features, or something else?
- For universities specifically, are there any special considerations around governance, audit, data security, or integration with existing identity/security tools?
We are trying to better understand real-world adoption of OCI Vault, including why organizations choose it or choose an alternative. Any experience, recommendations, or lessons learned would be very helpful.
