Hello Oracle community, I am Emmanuel Katto.
I'm looking for recommendations on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) compute instance types that can handle high-CPU workloads. We're planning to deploy a complex scientific simulation application that requires significant processing power and memory.
We're currently running this application on-premises using dedicated servers with 24 cores and 128 GB of RAM, but we're looking to move to the cloud to take advantage of scalability, cost-effectiveness, and automation. We've evaluated some of the OCI compute instances, but we're not sure which one would be the best fit for our workload.
Can anyone recommend an OCI compute instance type that would be suitable for high-CPU workloads? Specifically, we're looking for instances with:
- High core counts (at least 24)
- High memory options (at least 128 GB)
- High network bandwidth (at least 10 Gbps)
- Support for NVIDIA Tesla V100 or V100S-V GPUs (optional)
We're considering the following options:
- C5-24.Optimized
- C6-24.Metal
- M6-24.Dense
- C7-32.GPU
- C6-32.GPU
Can anyone provide some insight into which instance type would be the best fit for our workload? Are there any other factors we should consider when selecting an instance type, such as storage requirements or networking configurations?
Thanks!
Emmanuel
