Newbie to CEP

Hi CEP GURUS,
I am very new to CEP. Could you please help me in answering the below questions

1. Before learning CEP do we need to know any technologies like (SOA,JAVA)
2. I tried to create a Hello world program in CEP, but I am unable to do it... I go through the Manuall for hello world in CEP but its not clear at all
3. please provide me a nice information abt CEP
