Hello all, my apologies for my newbness but I seem to be confusing myself in understanding Java licensing.
At my job we have multiple applications that we purchased to do certain tasks. Some programs require Java or install Java when installed. By my count it is mostly Java 8. Now if we want to be able to receive latest Java support and security updates do we need to purchase Java 17 or later? To me it seems odd that we have to pay for Java in order for a program to run correctly. Shouldn't that be the software developers job to create an “all-in-one” application? We're just the end-users. We don't develop or package anything.
Go easy on me, I'm only asking to better understand how this works.
