Manual changes to source in project

Hi,

I've noticed that i can manually change source of procedure that was previously exported using PROJECT EXPORT and STAGE correctly included my changes in next.

In source there is a comment with hash of a exported code.

What's the purpose of this hash?

Does manually changing source of PL/SQL code will have any future consequences for my project?
