jdev 12.2.1.4 af:inputdate shows calendar control when keyboard down arrow is used

We are in jdev 12.2.1.4 We have suppressed the calendar icon on inputdate component through skinning. But when user uses keyboard to navigate and pressed the down arrow when he is inside the inputdate field, calendar control appears.

How can this behavior be changed to not show the calendar?
