No matter how much I have tried, I cannot seem to install the Windows client shown below.
I was able to install the database without any issues. Prior to installing the database, I created an account specifically for installing the database that had only User privileges. I created a new folder, made the created account the owner, then ran the setup program. The setup worked without a hitch.
Then, I created a separate folder for the client, made the created account the owner, extracted the client zip file into his folder, then ran the setup program. I received the following error:
[INS-32104] Specified Oracle home user is not the owner of the specified Oracle base
I used all sorts of tricks, and I know I may be lacking in some talents, but I am a professor of IT and can handle most computer issues. But no matter how many times and how many different computers I have tried (1 work laptop, 1 work desktop, 1 personal laptop, and 1 personal desktop), I have had no luck! This is so frustrating! If Oracle expects us to be able to teach this stuff, then we must be able to install it and so must the students. There is no way I am going to have students install this stuff if I cannot do it myself.
