Question is rather quite forward, what are the options to upgrade from 23.earlier_version to 23.latest_version with working database?
Manual says "
- Before attempting to install Oracle Database Free 23ai, uninstall any existing Oracle Database XE or Oracle Database Free or database with the
SID XE or FREE from the target system.
- The installer will use
SID FREE for database creation. Any SID other than SID FREE will not be allowed."
So, unplug FREE, deinstall 23.x, install 23.y, delete newly created FREE, plug in old FREE and pray that it doesn't show version mismatch error? and then somehow upgrade it via some script?
The expdp/impdp is terrible option and the migration from 21c XE to 23.x Free is a nightmare, not to mention that you lose data anyway. Wallets, passwords, APEX PWA subscriptions and other meta that cannot be exported and reimported. And if that is the same case to go from 23.x Free to 23.y Free, then even if it is free, the price is rather high.
Any other ideas, cookbooks, walkthroughs or manuals for both 21c XE → 23.y Free and 23.x Free → 23.y Free?
