How Does Oracle Calculate “SQL Work Area (MB)” in the “Load Profile” Section of AWR?

Scott YaoJan 26 2025

Hi everyone,

I’ve been researching the “Load Profile” section in AWR reports, and most of the statistics seem to originate from dba_hist_sysstat. However, I haven’t been able to pinpoint which view provides the information for “SQL Work Area (MB)” (referred to as “Sorts” in earlier versions).

It doesn’t appear to come from dba_hist_sysstat or DBA_HIST_PGASTAT. Does anyone know which view or mechanism is responsible for this calculation?
