Handling Fuzzy Match of Items Based on Attribute "Item Description" in Oracle Product Hub

Vuppala ManishApr 16 2025

Hello ,

I am currently working on a project where we need to handle fuzzy matching of items based on the attributes (Eg: "Item Description") within Product Hub. Our goal is to ensure that similar items are identified and managed effectively, even when there are slight variations in their descriptions.

For example, we have the following item descriptions:

  1. "Red Cotton T-Shirt, Size M"
  2. "Red Cotton T-Shirt Medium"
  3. "Medium Red Cotton Tee"

We need to set up a process in Product Hub that can recognize these descriptions as referring to the same item, despite the differences in wording and format.

Could anyone provide guidance or share best practices on how to configure fuzzy matching for item descriptions in Product Hub? Specifically, I am looking for:

  • Steps to set up fuzzy matching rules in Product Hub.
  • Any specific configurations or settings that need to be adjusted.
  • Examples of successful implementations or case studies.
  • Potential challenges and how to overcome them.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Manish
