My Always Free Tier compute instance was disabled due to unauthorized outbound traffic. I was using Claude (an AI coding assistant) to help modify my personal WordPress website. I granted it SSH access, and it made several changes to the server without my full review.
Unfortunately, the AI installed or configured automated scripts and cron jobs that generated outbound connections resembling network scanning or testing traffic. As someone who is not a security expert, I did not realize these changes would violate Oracle Cloud’s Acceptable Use Policy.
I fully understand the issue and take full responsibility. I have no intention of abusing the service.
If my instance is reinstated, I commit to the following:
- Immediately audit all cron jobs, running processes, and installed packages
- Remove any automated outbound tools or scripts the AI may have installed
- Manually review every configuration before putting the server back online
- Ensure full and ongoing compliance with Oracle Cloud’s Acceptable Use Policy
Instance Details:
- Instance Name: instance-20240420-1552
- Region: mx-queretaro-1
- Tenancy: listhotgggg
As a free tier user, I currently have no way to open a Service Request. I would be extremely grateful if anyone from Oracle or the community could help me reach the right team to request a review and reinstatement.
Thank you very much for your understanding and assistance.
