Default Connection when opening files associated with SQL Developer

When I open a file that is associated with SQL Developer (e.g. a file ending on .sql) I need to select a connection in the lower right corner of the editor window.

That's no big deal for a single file. However, when opening and closing a lot of files during a work day this becomes a bit tedious.

Wouldn't it be nice if a default connection could be configured? I see the following options:

  • None (as today)
  • Last connection opened (the connection that appears at the top when selecting a connection)
  • “Connection Name” (define a dedicated connection name in the settings; the connection is automatically opened if it is closed)

It would be great if something like that could be provided in an upcoming release.
