ASM password file on RAC DB to create standby: how make it work ?

SebinoOct 22 2021

Hello,
In 19c I have a RAC DB with its pwd file located on +DATA/DBUNAME/orapwfilealias pointing to +DATA/DBUNAME/PASSWORD/orapwdbuname.356.1186610343 (as a result of command 'orapwd file=+DATA/...').
I've been trying to create a standby of this DB (with RMAN DUPLICATE TARGET DATABASE FOR STANDBY FROM ACTIVE DATABASE), by also having this stby DB pwfile in ASM too: to no avail. Whatever trial I do, the first restart of stby instance fails with

RMAN-03002: failure of Duplicate Db command at 10/22/2021 12:20:40
RMAN-05501: aborting duplication of target database
RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script
RMAN-04006: error from auxiliary database: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

It only works if I copy (or create) pwfile on standby side in ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory.
I followed what MOS documents 1984091.1 and 1267828.1 state about ASM-based pwfile feature, but it fails big time. By the way in document 1984091.1 at step 3 of solution suggested you'll notice they wrote:

ASMCMD> pwcopy /tmp/orapwdb1211 +DATA/DB121STB/orapwdb1211
copying /tmp/orapwdb1211 -> +DATA/DB121STB/orapwdb1211

ASMCMD> ls -l  +DATA/DB121STB/orapwdb1211
Type      Redund  Striped  Time             Sys  Name
PASSWORD  UNPROT  COARSE   FEB 26 11:00:00  N    orapwdb1211 => +DATA/ASM/PASSWORD/pwdasm.279.872680185

i.e. their pwcopy command made an DB pwfile alias that refers to... their ASM instance password file ! Obviously a wrong document (did they really cut-paste results of their commands, or made up this output ?)...
I have but one question: has someone managed to create a physical standby RAC database with its password file stored in ASM (like its primary) ?
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Sebino
