Any Issues with 4, 6 or 8 Node RAC running Red Hat on HP hardware?

I'm interested in hearing (or reading whitepapers) on any problems or lessons learned from users running 4 or more nodes in a RAC cluster. I'm on a project to migrate our current databases applications from 9.2.06 to 10.2.0.3 in a RAC configuration. We've decided to consolidate our databases into 1 or 2 instances to more efficiently use oracle and hardware resources. Our management have been reading Gartner reports that state 2 or 3 nodes are the best to build. The interconnect "seems" to be the main performance bottleneck. There is so much information out there it's sometimes hard to know what to believe. So any real world experiences would be greatly appreciated.
