Hello,
We are using NetSuite Pay and would like to know if there is a way to automatically apply a 3% surcharge when a customer chooses to pay by credit card.
We have already contacted the VersaPay team, and according to them, this functionality is “not currently supported”.
As a workaround, we created a custom field and workflow that allows us to add a 3% markup line item to an invoice when the credit card fee checkbox is selected. This works when the invoice is processed internally through our workflow or manually...
However, the issue occurs when a customer receives a NetSuite Pay payment link. In that scenario, the customer can complete the payment using a credit card without the 3% surcharge being added automatically. The surcharge is only applied if the credit card fee field is manually checked or triggered by our internal automation before the invoice is sent.
We would like to understand:
- Does NetSuite Pay support automatic credit card surcharges based on the payment method selected by the customer?
- Can a surcharge be applied dynamically only when the customer chooses to pay with a credit card through the payment link?
- Is there any native configuration available, or would this require a customization (SuiteScript, Workflow, SuiteCommerce extension, etc.)?
- Has anyone implemented a similar solution successfully?
- Are there any compliance or regional restrictions that NetSuite considers when applying credit card surcharges?
Any guidance, recommendations, or best practices from users who have dealt with this scenario would be greatly appreciated.
