About the role of the LGWR process in an ASM instance.

Hello,

I  have installed Oracle RAC on two nodes (racnode1 and racnode2). I've noticed that on the node racnode1 (as well as on the node racnode2), there  are two instances: an ASM instance  and an RDBMS instance, and there is a LGWR process in the ASM instance on racnode1, and there is also a LGWR process in the RDBMS  instance. What I know is that the LGWR process writes the contents of the redo log buffer to the online redo log file. I would want to know if the  LGWR process in the ASM instance on racnode1 writes also the contents of the redo log buffer to the online redo log file.

Thanks.
