Zip and Unzip to a directory in Solaris 10

Hi All,

$ tar cvf filename.tar.gz /u01/backup

Am trying to untar using

copied to differct server

$ tar xvf filename.tar.gz -C /u02/appltest

It jsut coming out without doing anything ..

go to the path were we copied the file i.e

$ tar xvf filename.tar.gz

It automatically creates dirctory structure as in source

Please suggest
