ZFS vs. Btrfs for Linux
799875May 13 2009 — edited May 13 2009With the development of Btrfs for Linux and the benchmarks I've seen vs. ZFS, I have a question. The originator of the Btrfs project, Chris Mason, works for Oracle. Sun was bought by Oracle. So Oracle is developing the direct competitor to a product it owns, ZFS. Why would they continue to reinvent the wheel, rather than find a way to port ZFS to Linux? Will this affect continued development for ZFS, or Solaris support for Oracle?
Any thoughts out there -
