Yellow background on Text Field

Hi
I am creating a Text Field and have encountered a situation I don't understand.
The field itself is 17 characters long, has an optional label and there is no additional computation on it - a pretty mundane field. However if I set the Label to Ext, the field's background is automatically set to yellow. If I change the Label to Extl, the yellow background goes.

The field itself is derived from a database column called EXT. Is this the cause of the background change, ie Label = Database Columne Name and how can I turn this feature off?
