Y2K problem

This is a general question. I wanna know, in Oracle database context, that how oracle solved the Y2K(year2000) problem in thier database. Was it through the introduction of RRRR date format replacing YYYY format? and what exactly was the the Y2K problem in this context. PLs answer. Thanks
