xsl , add new spaces to a tag

how can i append new spaces to a string element using xls,
I need to get xsl-text with a size setting by a number, and
if the element has not get enough size, append blanks to full it ...
by example I need somethine like, xsl how?
<xls-text size="8" padding="rigth" character=' '>hello</xsl:text>
