XMLSpy alternatives for Oracle?

712296Sep 9 2009 — edited Sep 10 2009
Hi all,

I know several people here have recommended XMLSpy. I was wondering

1) Is there a nice open-source alternative that has the two features that I am looking for the most:
- graphical schema generation/validation
- generate example xml instance from xml schema
I tried to use JDeveloper, but it does not seem to have either one of these features. I have to admit though that I couldn't find a tutorial so I might have missed something.

2) Do we need to get the professional edition of XMLSpy to have database connectivity and be able to generate schema-based XML docs with real data?

Any input will be most appreciated. So far, the only "free" alternatives I could find online are older, or more for Microsoft development and do not have the above features. These are:
- XML Copy Editor (just an editor, looks like)
- freexmleditor.com (non-commercial only)
- oxygen (not free)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
