XMLSerialize

Hi,

I am trying to use the XMLSerialize example from Oracle documentation but it does not work:

SQL> select xmlserialize(content xmltype('<a>Grandco</a>')) from dual;

select xmlserialize(content xmltype('<a>Grandco</a>')) from dual
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis

Any idea what might be wrong? The sqlplus is against a 9i db.
