XML Gateway and SOA

Hi All,

Can someone please explain/point me to the use case for XML gateways. I am a bit confused as to when to use XML gateways, and when to the user the SOA Suite 11g B2B etc? We have a AIA 11g on top of SOA Suite 11g, and are looking forward to expose some of the webservices across the firewall.
