XBRL consideration in HFM project

KostasN.Aug 24 2010 — edited Aug 27 2010
This question may sound silly, but I want to confirm what I suspect from what I have read about XBRL: Can we use XBRL coding for coding HFM accounts? XBRL identifiers are long descriptions (much longer than the 20 character limit of the HFM account id) and therefore they cannot be used for coding accounts after the XBRL standards. Is this correct?

Another more serious question around XBRL is this: I know that at some point in my project (starting shortly), we are going to conform to XBRL. Do I have to take some provisions now (-i.e. to take into account XBRL in designing the HFM application), or freely proceed with standard HFM application design so that we consider the XBRL requirements as soon as we get to the reporting tasks of the project?

Thanks
Kostas
