X2100 M2 how to use a virtual CDROM
807557Nov 21 2006 — edited Mar 28 2008Hi,
I just got 5 new X2100 M2 servers. One of the nice features of our X4200 is the ability to mount a CDROM or iso image from your workstation on the server using the builtin ip-kvm. The X2100 M2 should be able to do this too according to the manual, however I am unable to see the CD on the server. Anybody any idea how to do this?
server: X2100 M2 running Embedded LOM 1.80, no local CDROM
workstation: Redhat EL 4 with firefox 2.0 with JDK 1.5.0-7
When running the remote console I select Storage->Mount Devices and select my local cdrom (with a bootable CD in it). Then according to the "Embedded Lights Out Manager Administration Guide for the X2100M2" (page 92) I should go to the BIOS of the server and select "Boot tab->Boot Device Priority and change the 1st Boot driver to Virtual CD/DVD". However when I do that there is no 'Virtual CD/DVD'.
