writing/ deploying .ser files

hi!

I am trying to write a simple serialized jsp bean. But I do not know how to write a .ser file and make use of it, or where to deploy. I am using tomcat 4.1. I have written my .java file and compiled it into a .class file. I also have .jsp file.

Can someone please help me or point me to a good source on this topic?
