Write protecting kernel read only data while creating Linux 5 Guest

user38127Dec 16 2009 — edited Sep 11 2010
Hi.

First of all thanks for looking into this.

I am doing this first time and new to linux. I did dual booting with Windows XP and Oracle VM Server. I have only one machine. As I have Oracle VM Server installed, I need to create virtual machine and install Oracle Enterprise Linux 5. I have copied all 5 linux cds (.iso files) to the same directory and mounted iso files to the new directory. Then i used exportfs command to have the directory available from nfs.
Now i use virt-install command and provide all needed information, installation starts and hangs with the message "Write protecting kernel read only data: 478 KB".

Also get an error message while booting to Oracle VM Server.
"ACPI: Unable to turn cooling device on"

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dheeraj
