Wrapping non-XA driver to appear XA

I know there are risks to this, but what steps would I need to take to wrap a non-XA driver and make it appear XA? Unfortunately, our old database is more or less out of support and we need XA until we can get migrated over to Oracle.

Do I need to make certain objects implement XAResource? Which ones, if so. I've done some searching, but I'm not sure what might accomplish this.
