Workflow Notification Mailer taking 1 hour for Sending Email.

I am facing two problems, I have configured Wf Mailer with correct smtp settings.

1. I am receiving emails through wf mailer but its taking too long about 1 hour.
2. Whenever I approve/reject any notification through email it doesn't show any impact on EBS i meant status are not updated.

Any suggestion to overcome this problem will be highly appreciated.
