workflow notification mailer configuration from OS level

Hi,
Can anybody help me how to configure workflow notification mailer from OS level,
for eg if some mount point like u04 get full, i want to get a mail to my user account.

we entered host entries also, but when we are sending mails we are getting the error like XXXX.XXX.com.my: Name server timeout
oradev@XXXX.XXX.com.my... Transient parse error -- message queued for future delivery.

can anybody help me out regarding this ASAP
