Windows Look And Feel + Alt Key

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here. I'm using a windows look and feel with jmenubar and I don't want the alt key to go to the menu as I have a canvas that uses the alt key. I've tried removing the takeFocus off my jmenubar in a test jframe's constructor and it doesn't seem to be removed. So I'm guessing it's somewhere else, any help is much appreciated.
