Willing to move DB, from Sol8 Sparc to RH9 X86

Dear all,

I know that one fundamental pre-requisite to move a working DBMS from one server to another is to respect the OS type version and of course the DBMS version.

I'm wondering if is just a matter of endian-ness between OS's, in my case I'd have 9.2.0.4.0 on Sol8/Sparc to move down to RH9/X86 Shrike.

As a matter of fact, when trying to rebuild the control file in the RH box I'm getting:

CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "DB" RESETLOGS NOARCHIVELOG
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01503: CREATE CONTROLFILE failed
ORA-01565: error in identifying file
'/global/oradg/oracle/oradata/DB/system01.dbf'
ORA-27047: unable to read the header block of file
Linux Error: 92: Protocol not available
Additional information: 2

Every single file is in it's correspondent place, all the permissions are okay.

Do you think that the above messages identify the impossibility to perform such migration or maybe do I have another problem to get rid of ?

Thank you very much.

Fabian
