Will a UMASK of 027 Break Oracle?

Our Linux administrator says a UMASK setting of 027 in root's .profile file will break Oracle. Currently the UMASK is set to 022. Best practice suggests we change it to 027. We are running Oracle 12 applications suite with 11g database. According to the following thread, we should be able to change the UMASK without breaking Oracle:
