Why won't the Java control panel open?

Hi,

I am trying to troubleshoot why I cannot open the control panel on my mac after installing the JDK of the latest revision 20160325.c4a3dc8 on a Mid-2012 Retina MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.11.5 beta (15F18c). This would be great as I need to override the security defaults to run an unsigned app.

I get to the point where the corresponding pane in System Preferences lets me know that the JCP opens in a separate window — only it does not.

Any ideas are welcome.
