why we have to go for pivot table view

hi all,

any advantages in pivot table.....

please let me know ... any different scenarios has any one done please share with me....
bez i don't understand the advantages of pivot table......
as for i know we can interchange the rows to columns... and paging and section options ....
apart from that rowsum.....

any other scenarios are there which we can do with pivot table please let me know
