Why use sars over stat tools

Hi,

I am new to Solaris. I come from the windows world, where I performance test our product using window's performance tool.

I know that sars can capture the same performance statistics using stat tools (i.e. iostat, mpstat). I know that sars tools allows for scheduling to capture performance data.

My question is, what are the advantages and disadvantage of using sars over the stat tools?
