Why SAN is preferred to setup RAC ?

Dear Linux Admins,

We are using STORAGE from EMC for RAC Databases (11.2,0.3)

What I observed 'most of the Oracle's RAC Databases' are running on 'SAN STORAGE' .

1) Why SAN storage is much preferred to setup RAC and Why NOT NAS ? Cant we setup RAC on NAS Storage ?

2) How do i check , my storage is SAN or NAS ? IS there any commands to check ?
