Hi all,

I'm trying to understand the mutex and latches, also searched forum and read other posts.

my question is, almost in every document says: mutexes are faster, less false contention, less size etc... also latches are locking a block of memory but every object has its own mutex.

both of them are kind a locking mechanism, that's okey but if mutexes are better why latches are exist ? what is latches' benefits ?
