Why I found oradiag_<username> directory in $HOME of oracle DB server 11g?

Hi,
In oracle DB server v.11gR1, I found oradiag_<username> directory in $HOME.
The sqlnet.ora in /home/<username>/oradiag_<username>/diag/clients/user_<username>/host_1360364748_11/trace alerted that
"Directory does not exist for read/write [u01/app/<username>/product/11.1.0/log] [u01/app/<username>/product/11.1.0/log/diag/clients]".

My questions are
1. Why the alert log file in ORADIAG_<USERNAME> doesn't in $ORACLE_BASE/diag (because it is in the Oracle DB Server, not Oracle Client)?
2. How I disable it? If I set diag_adr_enabled=off in sqlnet.ora, ADR_BASE will also disable? Is it mean that Oracle will also not generate log file in $ORACLE_BASE/diag?
3. Is the alert log file in ORADIAG_<USERNAME> the same as the log file in $ORACLE_BASE/diag?
4. If No.3 is true, why oracle doesn't generate log file in the unique directory?

Thank you.
