why ggate user need "select any table" privilege at target side?

Hi ,

Need help on the following :

Oracle GG document mentions that it is recommended to have "Select Any table" privilege along with other privileges.

Do we need to have "select any table" privilege at target side as well ? what is the impact if we revoke this privilege on the target database for GG user ?
