which version oracle linux on laptop HP dual core1.7Ghz 3 GB ram Virtualbox

Hi,
I am new to Linux.
The configuration of my HP laptop is intel dual core 1.7 Ghz/3GB RAM/400GB diskspace available. currently windows vista _32 bit_ is running as primary OS.
I want to install oracle linux as a secondary OS using virtualbox and then want to install oracle database 11g on it.
when I try to download oracle linux from oracle, I get three options ia64/X86 32bit/x86 64bit.
I tried with x86 64 bit, but when installing it is giving me an error like "this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot- please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU."

Please advise which version will work for me. Any other OS like solaris Unix would also be fine if oracle linux is not compatible. I just want to install oracle and ASM and dataguard for r&d purposes.
Many thanks in advance.
