Which performances by using implicit or expicit cursor?

Do you usaually do any considaration for using implicit or explicit cursors? I'd like to know, above all in terms of performance, when and if it's better to choose betweeen an implicit and an explicit cursor. I work on Oracle Vers. 8.1.7
